Analog Functions - ADI Products

Analog Devices designs amplifiers and linear products that deliver high performance and high value. We combine circuit design, manufacturing process innovation, and applications expertise to create products that simplify signal conditioning design.

Our online design tools help engineers to quickly select the right product from our broad portfolio of precision operational amplifiers, high speed operational amplifiers, instrumentation amplifiers, differential amplifiers, comparators, voltage references, other specialty amplifiers, and products for special analog functions.

Analog Multipliers & Dividers

An analog multiplier/divider is a device that produces an output voltage or current that is proportional to the product of two or more independent input voltages or currents. In addition to multiplying and dividing, multipliers can perform squaring, square-rooting and modulation functions. Applications include radar, communications, and industrial controls where a real-time response is required. Analog Devices’ offers the widest selection of multipliers and dividers.

Comparators

A comparator is used to compare a measurable quantity with a reference or standard such as two voltages or currents. It outputs a digital signal showing the results. Analog Devices offers an extensive portfolio of high speed and low power comparators and this allows us to provide our customers with more complete signal chain solutions. Our comparator offerings range from the fastest Si-based comparator on the market today to very low power CMOS comparators that consume only microamperes of power. Find the right comparators for your application with our selection tool and design tool.

Current Mirrors

Analog Devices current mirrors are precision, high dynamic range, wide variable supply parts used for optical power monitoring, voltage biasing with current monitoring, and voltage-to-current conversion. Our current mirrors can monitor current down to as little as 3 nA and as much as 3 mA, with a linearity of 1% or better. The current dynamic range is 120 dB or 6 decades of current range, while the overcurrent protection feature in our devices forces the input pin to ground to avoid part damage. Over temperature (–40°C to +85°C) and process, the dynamic range only suffers 10 dB at the lower end of the range.

Filters

Analog Devices’ line of continuous time and switched capacitor filters provide simple, flexible frequency discrimination solutions. Our specially designed filter products can accommodate any frequency response (low-pass, high-pass, or band-pass) and a wide range of frequencies.

Isolation Amplifiers

Isolation Amplifiers provide power supply designers with a higher performing, single chip alternative to isolation techniques based on optocouplers and shunt regulators. Analog Devices ADuM3190 and ADuM4190 isolated error amplifiers have a 400 kHz bandwidth, with 0.5% typical initial accuracy at 25°C and 1% total accuracy over the extended temperature range of –40˚C to +125˚C. This provides manufacturers of ac-to-dc and dc-to-dc power supplies with a significant upgrade in speed and operating temperature range, as well as a 5× improvement in transient response.

Matched Transistors

Analog Devices offers dual and quad transistors with excellent matching characteristics. Offset voltages, temperature drift, and hFE matching are individually tested to data sheet specifications. Device performance is guaranteed over industrial and military temperature ranges. Each of these devices is an excellent choice as an input stage for an amplifier or in log/antilog circuits. ADI’s matched transistors offer low noise and high gain, with characteristics approaching an ideal transistor.

Precision Modulators/Demodulators

Analog Devices precision modulators and demodulators support balanced modulation and demodulation, synchronous detection, signal recovery, and a range of other applications in industrial, medical, and communications markets. Our devices are specified over a temperature range of –40°C to +85°C and have the low power consumption that makes them ideal for battery-powered and low voltage systems.

Precision Resistor Network

Analog Devices provides a portfolio of quad resistor networks with excellent matching specifications over the entire temperature range. All of our resistors can be accessed and biased independently, making them a convenient and versatile choice for any application that can benefit from matched resistors. Our resistor networks provide the precise ratiometric stability required in highly accurate difference amplifiers, voltage references, and bridge circuits.

RMS to DC Converters

RMS-to-DC converters manufactured by Analog Devices are used in a wide variety of applications where precision and low power measurement of ac signals is the prime objective. An ADI rms-to-dc converter offers real time measurements, meaning there are no latency issues such as those that limit the frequency response of other technologies—the dc output is simply the equivalent of the rms input, over a wide range of input frequencies, and for complex waveforms not limited to sine waves. ADI offers a wide range of rms-to-dc converters optimized for the most demanding performance, power, and cost applications satisfying true rms needs.

Switched Cap Building Blocks

Analog Devices’ family of switched capacitor building blocks provide a unique method of sampling and amplifying low level differential signals with excellent CMRR and precision.

Voltage References

Analog Devices offers the widest selection of high performance voltage references in the industry. Our products range from high accuracy, low noise for high end industrial applications to general-purpose, low power for handheld, battery-powered applications. ADI is the ultimate source for design engineers looking for the perfect voltage reference that is cost effective, reliable, and dependable.
