Analog Devices clock ICs and timing solutions enable new architectures, lower development and manufacturing costs, and shorter design times. Products feature low jitter and phase noise for clock cleanup, synchronization, generation, delay, and distribution.
Likewise, ADI’s clock expertise has translated into a portfolio of wired network clocks that deliver the same high level of jitter performance along with industry-leading innovation in all digital PLLs and holdover/switchover circuitry specific to wired applications.
Clock and Data Recovery/Retiming
Analog Devices provides discrete rate, multirate, and continuous tuning clock and data recovery ICs for equipment designs, including metro, long haul, DWDM, and FSO applications. ADI CDRs allow easy integration into protocol agnostic applications, automatically locking onto incoming data streams at any rate between 12.3 Mbps to 2.7 Gbps without the aid of a reference clock while reporting the acquired data rate over the I2C interface.
Clock Generation and Distribution
Analog Devices offers ultralow jitter clock distribution and clock generation products for wireless infrastructure, instrumentation, broadband, ATE, and other applications demanding sub picosecond performance. ADI clock products are ideal for clocking high performance analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and digital-to-analog converters (DACs). ADI clock ICs integrate PLL cores, dividers, phase offset, skew adjust, and clock drivers in small chip scale packages.
Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS)
Analog Devices’ world-leading direct digital synthesis ICs incorporate features such as on-board comparators, RAM, PLLs, mixers, and registers. ADI direct digital synthesis products provide fast acquisition, highly accurate PSK and FSK modulation or high precision tuning resolution, among other benefits. They are an ideal synthesizer solution in applications where precise or agile frequency and phase control is required, such as systems for communications, test equipment, and radar.
Phase Locked Loop (PLL) Synthesizer & Translation Loop
ADI’s industry leading phase locked loop (PLL) synthesizer family features a wide variety of high performance, low jitter clock generation and distribution devices. The extensive, ever growing phase locked loop family now includes over 100 products, optimized for high data rate, low jitter clocking applications. The portfolio features PLLs, PLL/VCOs, and distribution chips, designed for clocking applications which require synchronization, clock distribution, and phase noise performance.
Analog Devices has over 25 years of experience in design and test of industry leading phase locked loop integrated circuit products. With the industry's widest portfolio of PLL products, we can cover virtually all your PLL needs.
Analog Devices’ fully integrated and ready to use translation loop (also known as an offset loop) System in Package (SiP) are used for frequency synthesis in highly jitter sensitive applications, and reduce board space and complexity compared to traditional discrete translation loop solutions designed on a PCB. Time to market is significantly reduced by taking advantage of this highly integrated solution with in-package circuitry and enhanced isolation that attenuate spurious components. Analog Devices’ translation loop solutions provide a frequency synthesis solution for engineers designing highly competitive systems.
Silicon Oscillators
Analog Devices silicon oscillators are frequency programmable via pin-strapping, or through the resistor connection or serial interface (SPI or I2C). These solid-state clocks are well-suited for general-purpose usage, such as PGAs, ASICS, microprocessors, or UARTS, and they operate from 1 kHz to 170 MHz. Silicon oscillators are also ideal switching regulator clocks as they provide synchronization and EMI reduction (via spread spectrum).
TimerBlox
Analog Devices TimerBlox parts are small, accurate, and simple timing devices designed for six basic operations: voltage controlled oscillation (VCO), low frequency clocking, pulse-width modulation (PWM), one-shot generation and signal delay, and power-on reset (POR). TimerBlox devices combine an accurate programmable oscillator with precision circuitry and logic. No capacitors, no crystals, no microcontroller, and no programming are required. A 20 mA source and sink capability enables the devices to directly drive opto-isolators and transformers for electrical isolation. An ideal solution for space-limited applications, each TimerBlox device can be placed at the point of use.
